When my husband and I bought our Sarasota home, we didn’t know where to begin to shop for furnishings. We were in new territory and looking for a lighter, more carefree style than we had up north. After scouring name furniture and accessory stores, consignment shops, galleries, and the like, we stumbled across a treasure trove of goodies: Bon Bon Vintage — “Made. Restyled. Found.” And what a find it is. The modest storefront belies the myriad rooms of stylish furniture and accessories. If you like all things Shabby Chic, distressed, chalk-painted, or Parisian, then OOO-la la! You won’t need to go anywhere else. The store is brimming with four poster beds, iron chairs, distressed dressers, farm tables, charming lamps, and fine linens — all reasonably priced. Bon Bon even has a special room with furniture graced with French phrases displayed alongside a stunning French Christmas tree. Yes, C’est la vie on the premier spot on the Gulf!
The Sarasota Spectator
Our Sarasota Spectator is Betsy Miller, a retired high school teacher and college professor. Originally from Columbus, Betsy has fallen in love with the Gulf Coast of Florida, especially Sarasota. Blogging about the area has been a creative outlet for the writer, opening up an avenue of exploration. You may find the bon vivant enjoying happy hour at a tiki bar, shopping on historic Main Street, or seated at a concert or show at a local theater. Chances are you also might find her buried in a book on one of our beautiful beaches. Asked to give one word about her feelings for Sarasota, Betsy replied, “Smitten.”
