Love Christmas? So does Sarasota Florida. There are tree lightings, music, decorations, parades, and, while there isn’t much chance of a blizzard, there is even a snow fest. Yes, a snow fest in Florida!
Missing the snow? On December 10th, there will be snow on Main Street in a family friendly annual event, Sounds of the Season. This celebration of the season includes music, food, fun, snow and a free holiday movie screening. Carolers will be singing as you stroll on a snowy Main Street. This is also the date of the Annual Sarasota Christmas Boat Parade of Lights that began in 1986 and starts about 6 p.m. This parade starts at City Island.
December also offers a wide range of musical opportunities. A winter concert, “All That Jazz”, by Diversity: The Voices of Jazz. The concert will include many songs from the hit musical Chicago, many other jazz favorites, and a few holiday favorites. The Suncoast Jazz Ambassadors will present a Dixieland set of Christmas favorites and their version of holiday classics. The Riverview High School Kittle Band will be preforming a 90-minute concert of seasonal favorites.
The Snow Fest in Lakewood Ranch at the Premier Sports Campus is December 16, 17 and 18th. This snow phenomenon is magical. You can step inside the Giant 16’ Snow Globe. Visit with Santa, Rudolph and Frosty with other winter characters. Enjoy the music and caroling and visit Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen. With over 250 tons of snow brought into the Premier Sports Campus, children and adults get to play in the snow in Florida!
These are just a very few events in Sarasota and surrounding areas. Sarasota has a calendar of events on line for December. I think I am going to have a very busy time trying to get to my favorites. Maybe I will see you there!
