Siesta Key beach makeover was finally revealed Saturday, February 20, 2016. After spending 21.5 million dollars on the makeover of Siesta Key Beach’s outdated park. Several years went into the planning, as well as two full years to complete the construction. The city increased the Siesta Key Beach free parking by 143 spaces, bringing the total to 980. 1300 Sarasota native palm trees were planted during the beautification. During the construction, the original amounts of parking spaces were maintained and the park was able to remain open 100% of the time. At the grand opening ceremony, there were entertainment, refreshments, recreational activities, and crafts for the kids, beach boards, as well as a boat marine life touch tank. The festivities also included a tour of the new Siesta Key Beach Esplanade, to see and learn all the amenities that are available for at this wonderful location. Visitors love all the changes.
